David Jacob
David Jacob is 14 years old and a fresh face at Amani. Life in his hometown of Marangu was difficult. David’s parents not having enough money for food meant David often went to sleep hungry.
For 7 months he lived on the streets of Arusha, suffering beatings from older homeless people, the cruelly cold temperatures, and nearly constant hunger. To survive David begged passersby and one day he met John, Amani’s Street Educator.
That meeting changed David’s life. On September 25th 2009, David joined the family at Amani. He is now in the Starters class, the first step on the road to catching up for all the schooling he missed. He is excelling in his mathematics course and in his free time his favorite activity is playing the keyboard. David dreams of becoming a scientist when he grows up.
