Denis Laswai

Denis Laswai is 14 years old and comes from Arusha. He lived with his mother and her brother. His uncle frequently beat and threatened him and so he ran to the streets. Denis begged for money from tourists and collected and sold scrap metal to survive on the streets since 2006. In March 2009 Amani’s Street Educator met Denis and told him about Amani. He’s now enrolled in our Starter’s Classroom where he’s trying to make up for the many years of school he missed. His favorite subjects are English and Science and he hopes to help other homeless children when he grows up.
