George Mwangi
George Mwangi, 14, moved in with his aunt and uncle after his parents died. His aunt didn’t approve of her husband’s generosity because the family was so poor. She frequently physically abused George and refused him food.
George ran to the streets in 2005 and survived by begging and finding small odd jobs. He regularly encountered abuse from the police who told him to go home.
George met our Street Educator earlier this year and arrived at Amani in March (2009). He now studies in Amani’s Starter’s Class and hopes to one day fly tourists to Zanzibar as a pilot.
