Gerald Paul
Gerald is 15 years old and comes from a small village outside of Arusha. He was living with his parents but left home to look for work. His family is very poor and he often went to bed hungry. Gerald dreamed of going to school and thought he could find work in the city.
Gerald lived on the streets for 2 years, begging, carrying luggage for tourists, and helping market vendors clean their stalls. He spent many of his nights cold and hungry. During the day he struggled to avoid beatings by other homeless people.
Some children who had heard of Amani told Gerald and he sought out Amani’s Street Educator. On May 1st Gerald began studying at Amani and loves to study English, Science and Math. After school he enjoys to play football with his friends. Someday he wants to join Tanzania’s army.
