Godfrey Mwanza

Originally from Zambia, 13 year old Godfrey came to Tanzania with his father in 2005. Since his mother had died when he was very young and his father’s job involved a lot of traveling, Godfrey was left with another woman in Dar Es Salaam while his father was away on business. One day, his father did not return from work and to this day Godfrey has never learned what happened to him. When his father failed to come back and the woman refused to continue to care for him, Godfrey decided to try to make a life on the streets of Dar Es Salaam. He struggled there for six years before he met a child who knew of Amani and made the trip to Moshi. Since August 2008 Godfrey has been an exemplary student at Amani.
