Ismael Athumani

17 year old Ismael is one of the oldest children at Amani. Ismael came from a very poor family who could not afford to feed him or pay for his education. He was encouraged to leave his home by other boys of his neighborhood, who all moved to the streets to live on their own. Ismael stayed on the streets for nearly two years until he met Godfrey, Amani’s street educator, and came with him to Amani. At Amani, Ismael showed a promising talent in art. He is currently enrolled in a Vocational Training Program for art and crafts in Bagamoyo.
