Joseph Abraham

Joseph is 12 years old and comes from a village near Arusha. He stayed with his aunt after his mother could no longer provide for him. He found the transition difficult and ran to the streets.

Joseph lived on the streets for 6 months. He was beaten by older homeless people and went for many days without eating. He was able to survive by begging.

Amani’s Street Educator met Joseph on the streets and they agreed the best place for him was in school. Amani enrolled Joseph in a public school and are currently working with his mother and aunt. Joseph loves to play football (soccer).
