Julius John
Julius, 14, lived in Arusha with his brother after both of their parents died. Neither boy had a job and so they had no money for food or clothing. In 2005, Julius decided he had had enough and he went to the streets to look for work. He began selling paper bags to shoppers at the market, but struggled to find enough money to eat every day. He didn’t fit in with the older homeless boys and was often beat up and robbed at night.
Julius met Amani’s Street Educator early this year and learned about Amani Children’s Home. He’s now enrolled in our Starter’s Class where he enjoys learning Math. He told Mr. Msoka, his teacher, that someday he hopes to be a footballer (soccer player), but if that doesn’t work out he wants to be a teacher.
