Zawadi Jacobo
Zawadi, 13, comes from the village of Kibosho, where he lived with his mother and father. Zawadi has told the social workers that he wasn’t getting enough to eat at home and so he ran to the streets of Arusha.
Zawadi lived on the streets for a month. He struggled to find food and keep from being beaten up by older homeless people. He begged and searched for scrap metal to sell for food and protection.
Amani’s Street Educator brought Zawadi to Amani in May. He is now studying in Amani’s On-site Education Program. He enjoys Mathematics and playing football in his free time. He tells his teachers that some day he wants to be a driver.
