Have you always dreamed of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro? Or would you need a really good reason to do it? No matter which category you fit in, doing a "Kilimanjaro Climb for Kids" is the perfect way to climb the world's tallest freestanding mountain and make a difference on the ground.
Your friends, family, and coworkers can sponsor your climb up Kilimanjaro, with the proceeds benefiting the orphans and street-children of Amani Children's Home. Before or after your climb, you can go to Amani and meet the children who you've helped.
How to fundraise: You ask your friends and family (or local organizations, churches, or businesses) to sponsor your climb, with the proceeds going to the children at Amani. This is done in the same way as people do bike rides for cancer, or any other good cause. Because you're climbing Kilimanjaro, you can ask people to sponsor you per day or with a lump sum, and you can also offer creative incentives (such as for any person or organization that donates more than, say, $500, you'll take a picture at the top holding a flag with their name on it).
Do it with Intrepid: Intrepid Travel (http://www.intrepidtravel.com), a long-time supporter of the Amani kids, is offering a free trek up to the Roof of Africa for anyone who meets their fundraising goal for the Amani children. Every cent you raise will go towards providing the children with nutritious food, medical care and an education.
If you have an adventurous (and altruistic) spirit and you love a challenge, then this is the trip for you! Intrepid's offer also includes meals and accommodation for the climbers. For more information visit: http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/YGM.
Do it on your own: Amani can help you find a local company to climb with, depending on what dates you'd like to climb and which route you'd like to take.
