Rescuing Children. Restoring Hope. Transforming Lives.

Christopher Emmanuel

Christopher is 14 years old and was born north of Moshi in a village called Kaniwa Chini. Christopher’s mother and father divorced and Christopher went to live with his mother and her new husband.

Christopher’s step-father treated him cruelly and so he ran to the streets of Moshi. He spent seven long months on the streets, carrying luggage in order to survive. A government social worker found Christopher and refered him to Amani’s Social Work Coordinator.

At Amani Christopher began studying at school and made important changes in his life, quitting smoking and learning to work with others. In the meantime, Amani’s social workers worked with Christopher’s father and in October 2009 Christopher went home. He is currently enrolled in primary school and doing well. Amani’s social workers continue to check up on the Emmanuel family and help cover the cost of Christopher’s education.
