Rescuing Children. Restoring Hope. Transforming Lives.

Dennis Lenarta

11 year old Dennis came to Amani from a small village between Arusha and Moshi. His parents divorced and when his mother remarried, he was rejected by his stepfather who wanted to make sure that only his biological children would receive his inheritance. Dennis lived on the streets for two months and faced many problems, especially from other street children who picked fights with him and stole the money he received from begging. In November 2008 Dennis came to live at Amani.

While Dennis was living at Amani, our social workers began to meet with his parents to discuss the possibility of family reunification. After months of counseling, Dennis’ stepfather agreed to treat Dennis as his own child. In April of 2008, Dennis was reunited with his family and is now happily living in the Kingori region of Tanzania.
