Rescuing Children. Restoring Hope. Transforming Lives.

Elibariki Goodluck

Elibariki, aged 12, comes from the mountain village of Machame. He was living with his older brother and was frustrated because he could not afford to go to school. He left the home to try to find work in Arusha.

Elibariki lived on the streets for one week where he rarely found anything to eat. He tried to carry luggage for tourists but the older kids told him he wasn’t allowed to take their customers.

Amani’s Street Educator brought Elibariki to Amani in April (2009). He began primary school in a government school, which he walked to from the Amani center. He told the social workers at Amani that he wants to study hard and become a mechanic when he finishes school.

In August of 2009 Elibariki was reunited with his parents. Amani agreed to continue sponsoring his education and will work closely with Elibariki and his family, providing them with counseling and support. Elibariki’s mother and father are extremely happy that he is home once again and are hopeful for his future.
