Rescuing Children. Restoring Hope. Transforming Lives.

Emmanuel Jeremiah

Emmanuel comes from the village of Machame, on the southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. He lived with his mother and father, but often suffered physical and emotional abuse from his mother. One day he decided he could take no more and he ran to the streets.

He lived with a group of homeless boys for 3 months, begging for food and searching for safe places to sleep. If Emmanuel ever found food or money, other homeless people would beat him up and take what he had.

Emmanuel met a young man named Ayubu, who had heard about Amani. Together they looked for Amani’s street educator on Arusha’s streets.

Amani’s social workers met regularly with Emmanuel’s mother and father and counseled them on appropriate ways to discipline Emmanuel. In August, Emmanuel returned home to his mother and father, who were eager and happy to see him again. The Jeremiah family is together again.

Emmanuel is in school and his teachers say that he is a pleasure to have in class. He hopes to become a driver someday.
