Reginald Godfrey
Reginald is 17 years old and an apprentice carpenter. He was sent to live with his grandparents after his parents’ divorce, which left him feeling hopeless and lost, as his grandparents could not send him to school. Reginald ran to the streets of Moshi in 2006, believing that he could make a life for himself there.
Amani’s Street Educator met Reginald in late 2006 and invited him to come live at Amani. After discussion with Reginald about his interests, Amani’s teachers enrolled him in a vocational training course for carpentry and he will graduate this year.
Reginald is an intelligent and resourceful young man. He loves working with his hands and building things. He now lives with his grandparents in his hometown of Uru once again. After he completes his training this year, he will “graduate” from Amani’s support. To launch him into self-reliance, Amani will give Reginald carpentry tools and supplies, and help him find a job or internship.
