Steven Wilbad

12 year old Steven Wilbad lived with his father after his mother abandoned the family when he was young. His father was unable to find work and could not care for him, so Steven turned to the streets.

After meeting Godfrey, our street-outreach social worker, Steven came to live at Amani. While Steven was living here, Amani’s social workers were diligently working to help Steven return to his family. Unfortunately, after Steven ran to the streets, his father disappeared just as his mother had. Our social workers were able to locate his grandparents, but they were unable to care for Steven because of health problems. After some time, Steven’s aunt was found and she was delighted to take him in. At the beginning of January, Steven moved to his new home and became the first child reunified in 2009!
