Giving Primary Care

providing primary care to street children

Amani provides a safe and loving home, nutritious meals, and medical care to homeless children, who arrive at Amani malnourished from living on the streets.

Amani provides a safe and loving home, nutritious meals, and medical care to homeless children. Our well-trained caregivers make sure that each child rescued from the streets is given love and attention as well as essential life skills, restoring hope to their lives.

Many children come to Amani in a state of malnutrition, but they quickly regain their health and vitality with three healthy meals a day. With proper nutrition, they become active and energetic.

Medical care is an important service that Amani provides to the children. We have a full-time nurse who addresses all medical needs, from treating minor injuries to managing serious illnesses like malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV. She also conducts weekly health lessons on topics such as personal hygiene, disease, and nutrition.

Amani fosters a family atmosphere, where older children care for the younger ones. Our caregivers have created a cheerful and welcoming environment that embraces children who have faced significant hardships in their lives.

We also prioritize mental health of the children through individual and group counseling sessions with our qualified in-house counsellor to support their emotional well-being. In addition to counselling, children at Amani have up to 18 hours a week of play time where they engage in various games and sports. Through sports and play, children develop important social skills and have the opportunity to enjoy their childhood.
