This is the story of Imad's journey from the dangerous streets to safety...

Imad at Amani Centre in Moshi.

Meet Imad, a 13-year-old boy who used to roam the streets of Arusha. At just 10, Imad was skipping school to beg for food, unnoticed by his parents who struggled with addiction. When his family finally fell apart, Imad had no choice but to live on the streets full-time, finding a sense of comradery and belonging with other street kids.

While there, one of our dedicated street outreach workers took special interest in Imad, determined to bring him to safety – not an easy task!

After almost three years of persistent effort, he finally was able to rescue Imad from his street life. With your support, we were able to give him medical care, food, and the safe shelter he so desperately needed. We also worked closely with his father, preparing him to reunite and care for his son once again.

Thanks to your generous support, Imad now lives with his father, who has made a positive new start. Imad is back in school, where he's thriving and learning every day. Our Amani family workers keep a close watch on him, ensuring he continues to progress well at school and at home.

One more example of how your contributions make incredible transformations possible, not just for Imad, but for many other children facing similar challenges.
